First Designated Port for Imported Fruits in Anhui Opens

Recently, approved by AQSIQ, the designated port for imported fruits in Hefei airport has started its trial operation. This is the first designated port for imported fruit in Anhui province.

In December 2014, the relevant departments in Hefei announced that, relying on the national first-class port of Xinqiao airport, it was decided to firstly apply for construction of a designated port for imported fruit in the Hefei Airport Economic Demonstration District. Meanwhile, the designated ports for meat, seedlings, and other products were in the planning stage. On May 27 this year, the AQSIQ assessment group audited the designated port for imported fruit.

Hefei Airport Economic Demonstration District, established in September 2013, is located in Hefei China National Economic & Technical Development Zone (North), close to Hefei Xinqiao International Airport. In the past, the imported fruit for Hefei market was transferred from other places. When the designated port for imported fruits is put into operation, the imported fruit can be directly sent to Hefei. The local people are expected to enjoy more affordable, fresher, and higher-quality imported fruits.

It is reported that, based on the fruit port, Anhui self-operated imported commodity outlet center will establish a chilled supermarket to directly sell fruit and will build the biggest sales platform for imported fruit in Hefei.
