The 16 January update was the first new version of the permitted fresh fruits lists issued by GAC this year, and is included here in full. Last year, ten types of fruit gained approval for import into China, down from 17 new types in 2017.

2018/19 Cherry Sea Shipments: Smaller Volumes but More Vessels

One major difference so far in this year’s Chilean cherry season compared to previous years is the frequency of arrivals of ocean shipments. Last year, there was generally one arrival per week carrying a very large volume of cherries. This year, in addition to the fastest Hamburg Sud “charter” vessels arriving weekly from Valparaiso Chile to Hong Kong, there are also shipments coming on vessels operated by Hapag Lloyd and Evergreen.
