July 27, 2018

The Washington Apple Commission (WAC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indonesian Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporter and Importer Association (ASEIBSSINDO) on July 24th. The agreement acknowledges the relationship between Washington apple growers and ASEIBSSINDO members. ASEIBSSINDO confirmed they wished to import Washington apples in a range of varieties and sizes throughout the year. WAC verified they would support the importation of Washington apples through promotional activities to help expand sales.

Rebecca Lyons, Washington Apple Commission International Marketing Director, says, “The MoU confirms the importance of Washington apple exports to Indonesia for both sides of the trade. There is a long-standing history between these markets. The agreement to continue this relationship is an act of cooperation and it was an effort by both parties to establish a strong future of trade.”

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Diane Kurrle, on behalf of the Washington Apple Commission and Hendra Jowono, on behalf of the Indonesian Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporter and Importer Association. The signing took place at the Indonesia Business Delegation in Washington D.C. The agreement is effective for three years.
