Back to topJingold Aims To Boost China Supply This Season
After years of dedication to the Chinese market, renowned Italian kiwifruit brand Jingold has gained significant recognition across the Far East. In particular, its signature variety Jintao stands as one of the world’s leading yellow-fleshed kiwifruit varieties. With its balanced sweet-tart flavor and delicate, tender texture, it has won the hearts of many Chinese consumers.
To guarantee a stable year-round supply, Jingold has established extensive cultivation bases across both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. In the Northern Hemisphere, production is concentrated in Italy, Greece and Portugal, while Chile, South Africa and Argentina serve as the primary production hubs in the Southern Hemisphere.
Jingold’s first shipment from the Northern Hemisphere for this season successfully arrived in Shenzhen on Dec. 25. To gain deeper insights into the kiwifruit giant’s export plans for the Chinese market this season, Produce Report conducted an exclusive interview with Moreno Armuzzi, the company’s sales manager.
Discussing this season’s European kiwifruit production, Armuzzi noted that adverse factors such as high temperatures, drought, irregular rainfall and disease outbreaks have presented significant challenges. The 2024/25 production followed a downward trend, with total output similar to the previous season. Italy and Greece played key roles, together accounting for nearly 80% of the total volume. Despite strong demand for yellow-fleshed kiwifruit in Europe, Jingold still intends to increase its supply to the Chinese market this season.
Amid ongoing global geopolitical turmoil and the unresolved Red Sea crisis, the current transit time from Europe to the Far East may extend to 50 days after considering potential delays. Commenting on this logistical challenge, Armuzzi views it as a potential opportunity for Jingold. One of the core advantages of the Jintao cultivar is its long shelf life and low loss rate during shipping, ensuring that even a 50-day sea journey does not compromise the product’s high quality upon arrival. This season’s primary supply period is expected to span from early January to mid-March, perfectly coinciding with the peak Chinese New Year sales season.
At the retail level, Jingold will partner with major channels this season, including Sam’s Club, Freshippo, Dingdong Maicai, Pupu and RT-Mart M Club stores. To strengthen its presence on the Chinese market, the company officially adopted the Chinese brand name “奇焕” (qí huàn) for Jingold in 2024. In Chinese, this name conveys the meaning of vitality and renewal. The company hopes to infuse the lives of consumers with continuous energy through its premium products.
