Thai Deputy PM Visits Joy Wing Mau Subsidiary, Praising Sino-Thai Fruit Cooperation

Joy Wing Mau is continuing to enthusiastically support the Belt and Road Initiative by reinforcing the Sino-Thai friendship. On March 24, a delegation led by Phumtham Wechayachai, one of Thailand’s deputy prime ministers and its minister of commerce, visited and exchanged insights with Thai Crown Group, a subsidiary of Joy Wing Mau.

The delegation was warmly hosted by Zhang Haibo, general manager of Thai Crown Group. At the event, Wechayachai highly praised Joy Wing Mau for its achievements in promoting the Sino-Thai fruit trade. The visit gave Joy Wing Mau the opportunity to both receive suggestions from the minister himself and showcase its accomplishments in deploying a global fruit supply chain within the broader context of the Belt and Road Initiative.

After learning more about Joy Wing Mau’s ongoing development and business in Thailand as well as the market demand from China, Wechayachai complimented the company’s professional ability to go deep in the fruit industry and its extraordinary contributions in developing the fruit trade between China and Thailand. During the visit, he also tried several products from Joy Wing Mau’s high-end Joyvio brand, including durians, blueberries and ready-to-drink coconuts, and pointed out that the Joyvio brand has also been well received in the Thai market.

In an interview with the Thai Public Broadcasting Service, where Joy Wing Mau representatives were also present, Wechayachai stated that Thailand would continue to offer excellent services to valued companies like Joy Wing Mau by providing stronger support and supervision of the country’s fruit industry, such as by facilitating durian exports.

As one of China’s leading durian importers and distributors, Joy Wing Mau first became involved with Thailand’s fruit sector as early as 2003. Since then, the company has been strongly supporting the development of the Sino-Thai fruit trade by holding multiple editions of the Thai Fruit Festival, actively promoting Thai fruits in the Chinese market, and increasing its investments to establish a mature whole-industry chain for Thai durians and numerous other fruits.

By helping the aroma of durians travel across borders, Joy Wing Mau has played a crucial role in building a bridge between China and Thailand. For years, Joy Wing Mau and the Thai government have been actively engaged in in-depth communication and exchanges to innovate the fruit trade. At the 15th edition of Asia Fruit Logistica in Bangkok in November 2022, Rapibhat Chandarasrivongs, director general of Thailand’s Ministry of Agriculture, paid a visit to Joy Wing Mau’s booth and applauded the company for its efforts in boosting the high-quality development of the fruit trade between the two countries. In 2023, at the Thai Fruit Festival during the 6th China International Import Expo, Joy Wing Mau and government officials met with Deputy Prime Minister Wechayachai and participated in discussions about the fruit trade and the lasting friendship between China and Thailand.

2024 marks the 12th year of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Thailand, and it is also the first year of the second “golden decade” of jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative. With its ambitions to promote the Sino-Thai fruit trade even further, Joy Wing Mau is now planning to continue increasing its investments and efforts in Thailand’s fruit industry.
