INTERPOMA CHINA 2018 International Congress & Exhibition Successfully Concluded in Weihai, ShandongThe 2nd INTERPOMA CHINA International Congress & Exhibition was successfully held from June 28-29, 2018 in Weihai, Shandong Province. During the two trade show days, 1000 professionals, including researchers, experts and renowned companies, visited Interpoma China, and 650 delegates participated in the Congress, which featured a series of speakers from China and overseas on the topics of apple cultivation, storage and marketing. US Apples Hit with 20% Retaliatory Tariff in Mexico Trade Spat In response to the Trump Administration’s tariffs on aluminum and steel, Mexico announced today that effective immediately imports of apples from the U.S. would be subject to a retaliatory tariff of 20%.  Under WTO rules, countries hit with unilateral tariffs are allowed to levy tariffs equivalent to the amount of injury.  Apples are just one item on the list of U.S. products that Mexico is targeting. China Quarantine Authority Orders Stepped-Up Inspections of US FruitAccording to industry sources in Shanghai and Shenzhen, as far as those sources can ascertain, all shipments of US fruits entering port in those two cities are currently being subjected to on-site inspections, which typically take no more than a day.
