Apples (⇧)

New Zealand continues its strong presence, accounting for over 80% of openings in southern China over the last three weeks, primarily with the Royal Gala, NZ Queen and Dazzle varieties. NZ Royal Gala prices have held steady at an average of ¥260 (18 kg), slightly below last year but firmer than the 2023 season. NZ Dazzle has also remained stable at around ¥390 (18 kg). South African Royal Beaut has firmed to ¥249 (18 kg), trading slightly above last season’s level. Further market information is available online.

Grapes (⇩)

Chile remains the primary supplier, followed by Australia. Key varieties include Sweet Globe, Crimson and Red Globe. Chilean Red Globe prices have continued to decline, averaging ¥160 (8.2 kg), significantly below last year. Australian Crimson has also softened to ¥220 (9.5 kg). Peruvian Sweet Globe has held stable at around ¥240 (7.3 kg), while Chilean Crimson has firmed slightly. Full wholesale and retail market information is available online.

Oranges (⇧)

Egyptian Valencia dominates the market, with prices holding relatively stable compared to last week, averaging ¥140 (15 kg). This is firmer than last year’s levels at this time. U.S. navels (Lane Late) make up a smaller portion of arrivals but do have a good presence at the retail level.

Plums (⇧)

Chilean plums continue, led by the Crimson Fall, Sweet Mary and Sweet Pekeetah varieties. Sweet Mary prices have declined slightly to settle around ¥310 (9 kg), well above last year. Crimson Fall prices have also declined somewhat to settle around ¥160 (9 kg), slightly below 2024 levels. D’Agen plums, though less frequent now, have maintained significantly higher prices compared to last season.
