From the Editor-in-Chief: Welcome to Producereport.com

July 28, 2016

I am proud to welcome you to the new English-language news service at producereport.com. This new website is the culmination of a multiyear journey that started with me and my incredible team building China’s leading produce industry news service at guojiguoshu.com.

Originally we were publishing only Chinese-language articles. But we came to realize that there is a great thirst among non-Chinese speakers who want to better understand the massive potential and unique challenges of the China market. We therefore started publishing regular English language news. We received much positive feedback on our English coverage, which is gathered by a multilingual reporting team from a wide network of exclusive sources inside China and around the world. Based on this feedback and the healthy outlook for the imported fruit market in China we decided to build a stand-alone English-language site.

The result is producereport.com. We have spent a great deal of time and careful consideration on this site. From a color scheme evocative of produce, to our logo whose four leaves symbolize trade in fresh produce reaching out to all corners of the world, we hope you will find that this site looks great and is a pleasure to navigate.

In addition to daily articles and catalog of hundreds of back articles, we also have included some great features for our readers. For example, our Produce Marketplace section allows you to post a request for a supplier of a type of produce you’re looking for. If you’re a supplier, you can also post an offer to find a buyer for your produce.

We also hope that we can develop an active dialogue and strong sense of community with readers like you. You should feel free to contact us with, for example, suggestions about what types of produce or countries should be featured on our homepage, or to join one of our frequent online lectures with guest speakers from a wide range of backgrounds and industry segments. I’m very proud of our role in fostering cooperation and sharing among people from across the globe who are united by a common thread of the produce industry in China—and I encourage you to get involved.

I would like to thank some of the people who have contributed their ideas and energy to the success of Produce Report and the building of this new site: Xiaoling, Nick Merril, Jingsheng Wang, Dan Siekman, Kevin Li, Yuejian Li, Naropa Love, Wendy Wang, Sofia Fan, Patrick Scally, Andrew Hagan, Andrew Deaville, Salsarola Damian, Emily Jackson, Anna Tong, Michelle Yuan, Helen Wu, Judy Liu, Michelle Yanglan, Tim Choi and Liu Xiang.

We hope you’ll come back soon. But, if you don’t have time to visit regularly, you can always subscribe to our newsletter and have all our latest produce industry news delivered straight to your email.

Many thanks for being our reader.
